You can call Francis Duru many things, but you can't say he's lazy. Lauded by awards and critics alike, Duru is determined to remain one of Nollywood's strongest personnel and when he's asked why he merged acting with stand up, event comparing, producing and directing, singing and songwriting, he says:

"I have always kicked against the notion of jack of all trade and master of none' because as a born again Christian, the bible tells me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and that means that in each and every one of humanity, there's so much to give out and it also depends on how those given potentials are harnessed".

Looking at all of the things he has combined, Duru argues that they are all related within the parlance of entertainment and that they naturally play themselves out. "When it comes to anchoring an event, it can be easy for me to combine all of what I have with stand-up, for instance, because of my background in theatre.

Then, as an actor, I am a full movie practitioner because I have also produced and directed a movie even though my main forte in everything is acting". Largely, Duru thinks his kind of work doesn't really "stick me" to a particular pattern because it all depends on how much there is to express".
