To use sports as a tool for national integration, nation-building, and friendship with other nations of the world; engaging the youths in a more positive and productive manner through sporting activities; taking care of the less privileged in the country and providing social services that will enhance and promote family values.
To develop the two sectors of its mandate to a veritable level where it would provide continuous improvement of quality of life for the entire citizens of Nigeria, to the extent that Nigerian would be recognized as one of the leading sporting countries of the world.

PARASTATALS: GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The goal of the NFA is to regulate the activities of football in Nigeria; the objective of the association is for the nation to excel in the game of football both nationally and internationally.
The goal of the Institute is to conduct research into various sports and train and produce high caliber coaches and sports administrators; the objective of the institute is to maintain standards comparable to any other in the world.
