SERVICES RENDERED
The Ministry was specifically charged with the following responsibilities:
exploring the solid minerals of the nation;
advising government on the formulation and execution of laws and regulations
guiding the various stages of prospecting, quarrying and mining; and
handling sale and consumption of solid minerals in the country, through the issuance of Permits, Licenses, Leases and Collection of rents, Fees and Royalties.
OUR MISSION
To ensure an accelerated and orderly exploitation of the nations vast solid mineral resources through active private sector participation to stimulate industrial growth, create jobs and boost revenue generation; establishment of a favourable investment capital; contribute to the global knowledge of the nations geology through acquisition of detailed information on location, quantum, mining and beneficiation characteristics of the minerals.
OUR ROLE
To generate and disseminate dependable, quality and time tested data on the geology and Solid minerals endowment of the country.
Establish transparent and competitive regulatory and fiscal frameworks for private sector investment.
Liberalization of the sector for better involvement by states and local governments as well as individuals interested in the sector for the over all economic enhancement of countries where solid minerals abound.

To generate and disseminate dependable, qualitative and time tested data on the geology and solid minerals endowment of the country; establish a transparent and competitive Regulatory and Fiscal frameworks for private sector investment.
