The daily massive increase in number of COVID-19 related deaths has necessitated innovative ways of handling COVID-19 patients to both manage resources and help protect health workers from contracting the virus.
One of the latest development is the mass production of convertible COVID-19 cardboard hospital beds with metal railings by a Colombian design company, ABC Display.
The bed can be easily turned to a coffin if the patient dies without health workers having to touch or move the body.
This biodegradable dual purpose bed is usable for 18 months and is capable of carrying up to 150kg of body weight.

Northwestern state of Brazil, Amazonas is in dire need of Hospital beds and Coffins due to massive deaths.
Some families waited with the bodies of their dead loved ones in their homes for days last month due to scarcity of coffins. Many could not find coffins while some of those who found could not afford it.
As confirmed by the advertising and marketing unit of the Bogotá based company, the current production rate of 3000 bed per month will come as a huge relief to the state of Amazonas and other states in short supply of hospital beds and coffins.
