Buhari congratulates CAN President, Olasupo Ayokunle, on his re-election

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the President of the Christian Association f Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Olasupo Ayokunle, on his re-election on Tuesday.

The President in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in Abuja, congratulated church leaders in Nigeria and the Christendom in general, for the successful election. He promised the CAN President that his administration will continue to strengthen the cordial relationship that has existed, especially. in tackling the challenges facing Nigeria.

Rev. Ayokunle was re-elected President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) after emerging victorious in the result announced by Bishop Matthew Kukah, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, on Tuesday.

Ayokunle had 59 votes to defeat the runner up, Rev. Caleb Solomon-Ahima, President, Fellowship of Christian Churches in Nigeria (TEKAN), who had 44 votes.

Ahima became the CAN Vice President as specified by CAN constitution.
