Last year, British-Nigerian actor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje made his directorial debut with his semi-autobiographical movie, Farming, which had its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. Now, we’ve finally gotten a gripping first trailer.
Farming, which is loosely based on the actor’s life, tells the story of Enitan (Snowfall‘s Damson Idris), a young Nigerian boy who is sent to the UK by his parents in the hopes of giving him a better life, but instead becomes the leader of a white skinhead gang.
Just like the clip we got almost a year ago, the trailer is incredibly powerful, as it is brutally honest about the realities of a young black child growing up in a majorly white neighbourhood. It is equal parts painful and heartbreaking.
Alongside Idris, who looks to be giving a knockout perfromance, the cast also includes Kate Beckinsale, John Dagleish, Jaime Winstone, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Genevieve Nnaji and Akinnuoye-Agbaje himself. Farming is set to hit thetres in October.
