N-power volunteers across Nigeria has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Mrs Sadiya Umar Farouq to pay their march 2020 stipends.
In a statement exclusively sent to Naija News by aggrieved N-power volunteers, they stated that delay in payment has become rampant since the scheme was transferred from the office of Osinbajo to the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and disaster management.
The volunteers noted that as at today April 10th 2020. they are yet to be paid their March stipends especially as food prices skyrocket in the market.
They advised Mrs Sadiya Umar Farouq to resign if she cannot handle her Ministry appropriately.
“We are hereby appealing to the honourable minister to pay us our March 2020 stipend or resign from the ministry if she can no longer do the needful as at when due.
“2017 set of volunteers have not been given and nothing is been said about it yet.
“2016 veterans have served for long now and still earning stipends of 30,000 naira which cannot buy much today in our today’s markets.
“While being thankful to President Buhari and his vice Professor Yemi Osibanjo for this laudable program, we demand for its sustainability, permanency of volunteers after graduation from the training and upward review of their salary instead of stipends as obtainable by other graduates in other ministries.
“Among these volunteers are those under the graduate categories which are qualified trained teachers under N-Teach category, qualified Health personnel’s under N-Health category and qualified agric extension workers under the N-Agro category.
“We are asking for the stipends of the work which we have done not begging for money. As at today April 10, 2020. which is good Friday, no march stipends have been paid yet meaning we would stay hungry during this Easter celebration,” the N-power volunteers lamented.
