A popular TV station in Ghana has been under fire for showing a pornographic video to its audience during one of its evening programmes.
The live sex video reportedly happened on Thursday at a time when the President of the nation, Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing the country on developments concerning coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the West African nation.
The TV station, in an attempt to illustrate graphically how couples can make their sexual relationships more interesting, played the movie which attracted lots of backlash from the viewing public.
Many of those who reacted on social media where of the opinion that such an embarrassing moment wouldn’t have come up if the station had hooked up with the President’s COVID-19 update broadcast.
Following the development, the Acting General Manager of GHOne TV, Nana Aba Anamoah has rendered an apology to Ghanaians and all other viewing audience for showing a live sex programme during their late night programme, Duvet.
“GHone TV wishes to sincerely apologize to its cherished viewers on the unfortunate turn of events regarding your favorite late night programme, DUVET, a few hours ago. Even though the show is x-rated, we concede that the nature of the content tonight was inappropriate,” she wrote on Twitter.
She also promised that members of staff responsible for the gaffe would be sanctioned accordingly.
“Whilst we promise that this incident will not repeat itself, we will also ensure that the officers responsible for the mishap are sanctioned. Kindly accept our apology, with any inconvenience caused, deeply regretted”.
