The debate on how music artistes take the shine off the Disc Jockeys is a never-ending, raging one that would continue for so long.
Of course, it stands to reason that music stars are more in the limelight while the DJs more often than not, stay in the background.
But in recent times, many DJs have stepped out of their shadows to rein in on the music space with music of their own and sharing the stage with their counterparts in the trade. At least this is the view of South Africa-based, Nigerian DJ, DJ Bamzyriches, born Olaiya Olatunde Abdul-lateef.
In his opinion, some DJs are more popular than some music artistes. He cited the likes of DJ Khaled, Dr Mophorisa, DJ Tira and many others as examples, to drive home his point.
He said, “Well, not all singers make more money than DJs. If you are well known in the industry that’s when you begin to make real money and there are many DJs more popular than some music artistes, even well known music artistes. Take for example, the likes of DJ Khaled, Dr Mophorisa and DJ Tira, they are more popular and richer than many music artistes. You should not forget they are music artistes themselves but in a different way.”
Abdul-lateef, better known as DJ Bamzyriches has made a name for himself as a Disc Jockey of note in South Africa.
He has worked with the likes of DJ Mophorisa, DJ Tira and many others. He broke into prominence two years ago but has since taken his craft to some countries of the world like Canada, Greece, UAE, to mention just a few.
Abdul-lateef relocated to South Africa in 2016 but started life as a professional Disc Jockey in 2018. He was born April 9, 1995 in Lagos State.
He hails from Akure South local government area of Ondo State. He grew up in Sango Otta, Ogun State and attended Iganmode Grammar School, Sango Otta, Ogun State.
He studied Accounting at Ekiti State University, Nigeria.
