After his surprising departure from Mavin Records, Reekado Banks, who now heads his own label, Banks Music, seems to be excelling on his own. A month ago, he dropped “Yawa”, maintaining his high standards on the energetic bop”, for which he has now released a fittingly playful video.

The video for the feel-good song visualises Reekado Banks’ encouragement for us to dance our sorrows away. Directed by Unlimited LA, the video hosts numerous dancers joyfully expressing themselves to the Reekado Banks hit.

Throughout the video, the first for Banks Music, we see the afropop star selflessly performing random acts of kindness — from comforting someone who is about to self-harm to helping an old lady cross the road.

Reekado Banks leaves all the people with whom he interacts happy, whilst touching viewers and inspiring us to help others. The video for “Yawa” is also rather child-friendly, however, the bouncy animations and bubble-written lyrics do feel a little distracting.
