Heath Edward Bumpous, a 36-year-old man from Texas who wanted to make his fiance, family and friends happy ended up robbing a bank just a day before their wedding to pay for the ring and venue for the event.

He was, however, arrested after his fiancée saw a social media post of him robbing a bank the day before their wedding.

Bumpous robbed Citizens State Bank in Texas on Friday around 11.30am, in an attempt to pay for his wedding the following day, Saturday.

Trinity County Sheriff, Woody Wallace quoted the suspect as telling the bank tellers that he had a gun and that he needed the cash to pay for a wedding venue and wedding rings the next day.

Armed with the cash, Bumpous fled by car. But was later called by his fiancée who had seen his photo the police had shared on Facebook.

After some discussion, Wallace said the fiancee was able to persuade Bumpous to turn himself in to the police, which he did. Wallace said:

“He basically stated that he was getting married tomorrow so he didn’t have enough money for a wedding ring that he wanted to buy and he needed to pay for the wedding venue,” Sheriff Woody Wallace said in a statement via Facebook Live.

“His fiancee, who he was supposed to marry, was able to get in touch with him on the phone when she saw our post on Facebook.

“She knew it was him. She contacted him and asked him if he robbed a bank (…) she convinced him that she knew it was him.”

Bumpous was arrested and remains in police custody. He has been charged with aggravated robbery.

Sheriff Wallace said most of the money stolen in the incident was recovered.

It’s not clear when the couple will get married as their wedding plans were disrupted.

Meanwhile, a man has lost his wife to the pastor who presided over his wedding 25-years ago.

The man’s wife, had reportedly fled with the pastor, abandoning their 26-year union that produced five children.
