Following the release of “Promise”, his moving love song with wife and frequent collaborator, Simi, the talented Adekunle Gold is now back with “Before You Wake Up” — his first solo single since his critically acclaimed sophomore album, About 30.

Produced by Sess — the gifted beatsmith behind Falz’s most indelible hits — “Before You Wake Up” is a mid-tempo love song that finds Adekunle Gold promising to give his partner everything he can, from a jaw-dropping wedding to multiple dream holidays.

On the track’s standout second verse, Adekunle Gold admits to being shocked by how hard he’s falling for his lover. “Hard guy, na me dey fall in love, and this no be plan/ Bad boy, ordinary love don fall my hand”, he laments, rather relatably.

With two fantastic albums already under his belt, “Before You Wake Up” serves as a very exciting introduction into a new Adekunle Gold era, and if the rest of the songs he’s set to drop are as delightful as this, we are certainly in for a massive treat.
