Burna Boy‘s press run following the release of his career-best album, African Giant, has been nothing short of monumental. After a viral appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, he’s now met up with GQ, where’s he’s broken down the inspiration behind his tattoos.
For GQ’s ongoing tattoo tour, they speak to a bunch of different musicians about the inspiration behind their ink, and in the past have conducted this series with renowned artists like Justin Bieber, Trey Songz, 21 Savage, Post Malone, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign and many more.
In the video, Burna reveals that every tattoo he has is representative of his interests. He has tattoos of his debut album, his family members, his favourite psalm, Fela Kuti and more. At the end of the video, he tells people to only get tattoos that matter to them, as you’re stuck with it for life.
Speaking about his tattoos, he concludes:
“Every [tattoo] I’ve got is a part of me.”
