Almost a decade ago, Oladipo Omisore (aka Dot da Genius) rose to prominence when he and Kid Cudi formed the rock band, WZRD. Since then, he’s become one of the most renowned hip-hop producers in the game, working with the likes of Travis Scott, Jhene Aiko and 6lack.
Growing up in Brooklyn offered him obvious ’80s influences – from Jay-Z to Mase. That, paired with the Nigerian music his parents introduced him to, accounts for his versatility. While he’s yet to work with any Nigerian artist, we’re sure that when he inevitably does, he will deliver.
Over the years, he’s doled out a ton of gems, such as Kid Kudi’s Grammy-nominated “Day N Nite”, Travis Scott’s “Through The Late Night” and Jhene Aiko’s “Wading”. Recently, he teamed up with 2019’s biggest breakout star, Lil Nas X, for his “Old Town Road” follow-up, “Panini”.
So, in a bid to celebrate one of the most eclectic producers in the game, we decided to take a look at his discography and highlight some of the best songs he’s helped create. From 6lack’s “Alone” to WZRD’s Love Hard”, here are seven of the best Dot da Genius-produced tracks.
