Chinecherem Nnamdi brought down the curtains on Team Nigeria’s outing at the African Athletics Championships in Douala, winning silver medal in the men’s javelin throw.
Nnamdi produced a best effort of 79.22m to win the silver medal finishing behind Julius Yego of Kenya who threw 80.24m.
Moustafa Mahmoud of Egypt was third in the javelin final with an effort of 77.25m.
Earlier, the quartet of Ella Onojuvwevwo, Patience Okon-George, Esther Elo Joseph and Omolara Ogunmakinju landed the gold medal in the women’s 4x400m.
They clocked a time of 3:27.31 to become champions in the women’s 4x400m.
Meanwhile, the next African Championships will be held at the University of Ghana, Accra in 2026.
