Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, attributes the prevailing economic challenges in the nation to the previous administration under President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a recent appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today,’ Sani pointed out that President Bola Tinubu, unlike his predecessors, was transparent about his intention to abolish fuel subsidy, a move that he claims would alleviate the economic burden.
Sani emphasized that had Buhari embraced some of Tinubu’s economic strategies, the nation wouldn’t be grappling with its current economic predicament.
He expressed his views, stating, “The problem we find ourselves in today originated, was engineered, fabricated, and sustained by the Buhari administration. The Buhari administration fundamentally destroyed the Nigerian economy.”
Reflecting on Tinubu’s stance, Sani noted, “When Tinubu took over, he knew there would be no subsidy, and he was candid during his campaign. He declared, ‘I am going to remove subsidy, and I won’t back down despite any protests that may arise,’ and the people voted for him, so he hasn’t deceived Nigerians.”
Sani further elaborated, “Now that he is in power, we are paying the price for past mistakes, failures, and negligence. This is the reality.”
