In anticipation of the crucial quarter-finals clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Palancas Negras of Angola, the principal officers of the National Assembly are set to visit Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to show their support for the Nigerian team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Senator Kawu Sumaila, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, shared this information during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

Sumaila emphasized the significance of the National Assembly’s backing for the Super Eagles, stating, “I am happy with the performance of the Nigerian team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.” He disclosed that not only the principal officers but also the National Assembly joint Committees on Sports would journey to Abidjan to witness the quarter-finals against Angola at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

Expressing confidence in the Super Eagles’ victory, Sumaila mentioned, “The principal officers of the National Assembly and the two Committees on Sports will also be in Cote d’Ivoire to watch the quarter-finals with Angola.”

Addressing queries about the fate of the Super Eagles’ coach, Jose Peseiro, the lawmaker asserted, “We will look at it after the competition; I am sure of victory for the Super Eagles against Angola.”
