Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has praised the country’s Super Falcons’s effort despite their painful defeat to England in a penalty shoot-out in the Round of 16 on Monday.
England trashed Nigeria 4-2 on penalties on Monday to reach the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup after their last-16 tie finished 0-0 at the end of extra time.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Tinubu posted a photo of the team, saying the team’s brilliant effort did not go unnoticed despite the outcome.
According to him, the Falcons made Nigeria proud on the global stage.
The president wrote, “I must commend the effort by our Super Falcons #NGSuper_Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Your brilliant performance did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome. You made Nigeria proud on the global stage!”

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the Enugu State Government has banned the unauthorised use of vehicle-tinted glasses in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Chidiebere Onyia.
The statement said the new measure is aimed at curtailing nefarious activities of kidnappers and criminal elements as well as enhancing public security and safety in the state.
