Former Senate President, Ken Nnamani has disclosed that he is supporting the presidential ambition of the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because of South East interest.

Naija News reports that Nnamani stated this at the inauguration of the State and LGA coordinators of Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council (ICC) in Enugu State at the weekend.

The former Senator stated that he is not supporting Tinubu for personal interests, stressing that his backing the APC standard bearer in the interest of the South East people.

He said the former governor of Lagos has the capacity to fix the country, adding that the Igbo must use him as a bridge to build support across the country.

Nnamani said the Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council did not take the place of the APC in Enugu State, explaining that it was an initiative of the presidential candidate.

He went on to urge the campaign council to ensure that the people of Enugu understood why they needed to vote for Tinubu and the APC.

Nnamani said: “I’m not looking for a ministerial position because I have outgrown that. We are doing this in the overall interest of our people.

“Ndigbo are using our support for Tinubu and APC in 2023 to build bridges across the country.

“Don’t join issues with people who are resorting to insults. Just concentrate on the goal because this is a very serious business.”

On his part, the state coordinator of the ICC, Gbazuagu Nweke, said a Tinubu presidency would favour the Igbo, just as he stated that Tinubu would still win without them

A former Attorney General of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Nwoga, was appointed as secretary of the ICC, while former state chairman of the APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye, was appointed as the Director of Contact and Mobilisation.
