Although electronic music isn’t exactly popular in Nigeria, Major Lazer have pretty successfully jumped into the Nigerian music market, especially the group’s frontman, Diplo.

As well as headlining Gidi Fest and a successful concert at Lagos‘ Hard Rock Cafe, Diplo has worked with a number of Nigerian artists — including Burna Boy, Mr Eazi and Kizz Daniel — and now he’s teased an upcoming collaboration with Simi.

So far this year, Simi has only released one solo song, “Ayo” — an uplifting track on which she gives thanks for the blessings in her life — so when she announced that she’d soon be releasing a new album, Omo Charlie Champagne we were understandably gassed.

Earlier today, Diplo took to Instagram to share a snippet of the gifted singer in a studio, with the Grammy-winning producer dubbing her a “legend”. Considering how great all his collaborations with Nigerian artists have turned out, we have really high hopes for this track.

It’s very unlikely that this collaboration will appear on her upcoming album, Omo Charlie Champagne, as the project is coming in just two weeks. Still, we are really excited to hear what Simi and Diplo have cooking, as the versatile singer is sure to kill any beat the talented producer lays down.
