The Kingdom of Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, has crowned a new Obi to succeed the demised Royal Father, his Royal Highness,Professor Chukuka Okonjo, who joined the ancestors at the age of 91 years.

The successor to the late Obi, His Royal Highness, Ifechukwude Okonjo, has received the approval and confirmation of the Umu Obi Obahai Royal Family to rule the Kingdom as the new Royal Father.

All traditional rites have been performed for the installation of the new Obi.

Meanwhile, various sons and daughters of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom across the world have been sending goodwill and congratulatory messages to the new traditional ruler. And everyone shouts it loud: “Long live Obi Ifechukwude Okonjo!”

For the Ogwashi-Uku indigenes, it’s a new dawn in the Kingdom.

Obi Chukwuka Okonjo was the father of Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
