Laliga President Javier Tebas is excited over the greenlight given by Spanish government for sporting events to resume in the county from June 8, meaning that his body can go ahead and implement the restart of 2019/2020 Laliga Santander and Laliga SmartBank campaigns on June 12 as earlier planned, Completesports.com reports.
Laliga had tentatively fixed June 12 as date for the resumption of the season since it was suspended on March 12, subject to the approval of the government through the Ministry of Health.
Coronavirus outbreak forced Laliga to be paused, with eleven rounds of games remaining. FC Barcelona top the table on 58 points, two ahead of second-placed Real Madrid (56 points). Sevilla (47), Real Sociedad (46) and Getafe (46) make up the top-five.
Laliga boss Tebas was excitedly animated on Saturday by a Tweet from the National Sports Council, confirming the approval of the resumption of sports competitions from June 8 by the Spanish Ministry of Health.

“We are very happy with the decision, it is the result of the great work of clubs, players, coaches… CSD [National Sports Council] and agents involved,” Tebas tweeted on Saturday, in response to CSD’s Tweet.
“But it is very important to follow the health regulations and respect the evolution of the pandemic, we cannot lower our guard. #VolverEsGanar.”
Bundesliga was the first elite European football league to defy the Coronavirus crisis and resumed the 2010/2020 season on May 16. Laliga, English Premier League, and Serie A are expected to restart in June.
