Odion Ighalo has predicted that fellow striker Mason Greenwood will become a hugely important player for Manchester United in the next two or three seasons.
Greenwood has enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Red Devils, with the teenager having scored 12 goals in all competitions for the senior side.
Despite the form of Greenwood and fellow academy graduate Marcus Rashford, United needed to bring in more firepower in January, having been too reliant on their rising stars after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku last summer.
That was where Ighalo came in, joining on loan from Chinese side Shanghai Shenua until the end of the season.
And the Nigeria striker hasn’t disappointed, having scored four goals in three starts for the club he supported as a boy.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised the impact the 30-year-old veteran has had on youngsters like Greenwood – who Ighalo says has a bright future at Old Trafford.
“He’s very young and exciting. Very good player, left and right, he can shoot and score goals,” Ighalo said of Greenwood during an Instagram live appearance.
“He’s a player for the future for Man United. He’s doing well now but in two or three years he is going to be doing very, very well.”
Ighalo also spoke about Paul Pogba, who was closing in on a return to full fitness before the coronavirus pandemic brought the football season to a halt.
