Cable vandal electrocuted in Benue

A MAN who climbed an electric pole to vandalise cables was electrocuted on Sunday night in Benue State.

The incident happened in Iwohye Mbatyierev Gboko Local Government Area of the state.

The Nation gathered from villagers who were at the scene of the incident that the man died in an attempt to steal armoured cables.

“We heard electricity sparks in the night at the transformer followed by a loud sound which scared people in the area,” a village source said.

In the morning, a woman saw the body of a young man dangling on the cables and raised the alarm, which attracted members of the community.

At press time many people gathered under the high tension wire watching the dangling body.
