Air strikes conducted by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft have resulted in the deaths of three terrorist leaders and 30 foot soldiers in Borno State.

The spokesperson for NAF, Air Vice Marshall Edward Gabkwet, announced on Tuesday April 16 that the airstrikes targeted the hideouts of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) within Kolleram village along Lake Chad. The airstrikes also led to the destruction of several terrorist vehicles, motorcycles, and logistical assets.

Gabkwet stated, “Intelligence gathered after the air strike further indicated that the aerial bombardment effectively obliterated a key facility within the Kolleram enclave, which served as a hub for the terrorists’ food processing activities, including grinding machines.”

He emphasized that the destruction of the terrorists’ logistics severely hampered their operational capabilities, marking a significant step forward in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.

Gabkwet reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens, stating, “The success of these airstrikes underscores NAF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian citizens. These airstrikes complement the ongoing efforts of ground forces in the Lake Chad flank and represent a crucial step forward in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.”
