Ten people lost their lives in an automobile crash on the Kasuwar Daji-Gusau Road in Zamfara State on Saturday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, said in a statement on Sunday, “A truck conveying passengers and goods from the Kasuwar Daji Market was involved in a fatal accident, in which 10 persons died on the spot, while 45 others sustained injuries and were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, for treatment.”
Shehu said the corpses of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary of the FMC, Gusau, and would be released to the relations for burial.
According to him, the accident occurred as a result of reckless driving.
The PPRO appealed to members of the general public, especially drivers of commercial vehicles, to refrain from reckless driving and obey all traffic rules and regulations.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Usman Nagogo, commiserated with the families of the deceased and prayed to God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.
