The Jigawa State Government has made it illegal to sell petrol in jerrycans or other containers throughout the state.
The state governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, signed executive order No. 001 of 2021, which stated this.
The order said ”all petrol stations in the state are prohibited from selling more than 60 litres of petrol in any container, jerrycan, or vessel to an individual except corporate bodies.
It goes on to say that all petrol hawkers, with the exception of licensed outlets, are barred from having more than 60 litres of petrol in their possession at any given moment.
“Pursuant to the authority vested in me by the constitution as the Governor of the Jigawa State I hereby prohibit the sale of petrol more than 60 litres in any container except corporate bodies”
The measure, it added, will enable the state administration in its efforts to protect citizens’ lives and property.
The state government had previously restricted commercial motorcycle movements from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., according to the DAILY POST.
