The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed N22.5 million as fees to be paid by members contesting the governorship election in Anambra State.
It also fixed June 26 for the conduct of the primary election.
In its schedule of activities released on Thursday, the APC, fixed its Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at N2.5 million and N20 million respectively, bringing the total to N22.5 million.
It, however, slashed by 50 per cent the fees to be paid by women and physically-challenged aspirants.
“The Governorship Expression of Interest Form cost N2,500,000 while the Nomination form cost N20,000,000.00, totalling N22,500,000.
“Female Aspirants and Physically Challenged Aspirants are to pay 50% of the prescribed fees for the position,” the party said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in January scheduled the Anambra Governorship poll for November 6, two months before the commission reiterated its stance on 74 deregistered parties.
It said it would continue to recognise and allow only APC alongside 17 registered parties to nominate and contest elections in the country.
In line with this and other provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and INEC, the APC has slated its primary election for Saturday 26th June, 2021 while the screening of the aspirants will take place 15 days before the primary.
Meanwhile, the APC Director of Organisation, Al-Mustapha Medaner, in the statement, said the sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for governorship ticket would commence on April 15 and end on September 10.
All forms and accompanying documents are expected to be submitted not later than June 8, 2021.
He also announced June 12 as the date for “publication of claims and objections while screening appeals will take place on Tuesday June 15, 2021”.
