President Muhammadu Buhari has approved reimbursement of N148 Billion to five states.
The approval has been transmitted to the National Assembly and the benefitting states are Ondo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Osun and Rivers States.
The refund covers expenses for construction, repairs of federal road projects across the five states.
This information was revealed in a letter on Tuesday sent to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, and read on the floor of the house.
Ondo State, which is billed to hold the governorship elections next week is among the beneficiaries of the funds which amounts to N7 billion.
This has generated much concern as opposition lawmakers have argued that the funds be delayed until after the elections.
Recall the Senate generated the same criticism last year when it approved N10 billion to Kogi State, just three days to its governorship election.
