Since 2017, when he first played in the NBA All-Star Game, Giannis Antetokounmpo has continued to deliver, giving other popular players a run for their money. Now, speaking of money, the Greek-Nigerian star has just been named in the Forbes ’30 Under 30′ list for 2019.
Forbes’ 30 Under 30 is an annual list of under-30 entrepreneurs who are creatively disrupting various industries across the US and Canada. Antetokounmpo was listed in the celebrities category, alongside other big names like Camila Cabello, Lil Pump and fellow NBA star, Blake Griffin.
Using basketball as his foundation, the 24-year-old has built his entrepreneurial side, first starting with a Nike partnership in 2017. He has since renewed the deal and is set to make about $9 million in the first year – courtesy of his line of shoes, which Nike will soon release.
In addition, Antetokounmpo is the face of brands like BMO Harris, Tissot and Kronos Foods. Just as his annual scoring average has increased over the span of his five-year career, these deals have spiked his earnings by nearly 500%, and it doesn’t look like they’ll fall anytime soon.
