Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper, Jesus Owono has said the Super Eagles remain a strong side despite having some of their key stars ruled out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Boniface and Umar Sadiq are already out of the squad with the trio of Alhassan Yusuf, Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu coming in to replace them.

Owono, who plays for Spanish club, Deportivo Alaves claimed the Super Eagles remain a top quality side despite the injuries.

“It’s true that some of the Nigerian players are injured, but the players who have come in are also good,” Owono said during his interaction with the media on Saturday.

“We also have our own injury problems too, so it’s not just Nigeria.

“Nigeria have good players in their team and playing against them is going to be a tough task for us.”
