The latest Nigerian to be celebrated for his philanthropic deeds is Oba Adedokun Abolarin of Ike-Ila Orangun, Osun State who fosters kids from poor homes in his middle school.

The king who is married to a single wife is a highly educated professional, holding a law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife). Until his installation as Orangun of Oke-Ila on December 8, 2006, he was a professional lawyer licensed to practice law in the Supreme Court and was the principal partner of Dokun Abolarin & Co. He has bachelors degree in Political Science and masters degree in International Relations as well.

According to media influencer, Dr Harvey Olufunmilayo, Oba Abolari believes poor brilliant kids should be also given opportunities and the environment to prepare and spur them on to great life achievements.

His school, Abolarin College in Oke-ila Orangun admit the less privilege where they do not pay school fees and are provided with hostels, food, electricity internet, uniforms and laptops free of charges.

The money generated in Oke-ila Orangun town is used to run the school.

Dr. Olufunmilayo revealed that the school only admits poor and brilliant children. Children from wealthy families are not offered admission into the school.

Also, admission into the middle school is not restricted to a particular religion, tribe nor the Oke-ila town.

Most of the children admitted into the school have histories of hawking pepper, sachet water, fruits and other edibles. Some came from families where they farmed on most of the occasions as that was the source of livelihood for their families. A good number of them are orphans too.

Oba Abolarin is entitled to using the money generated by his town to marry wives and properties as he pleases but has opted to invest it in education of these less privileged kids. This will most definitely play it part in reducing the burden of illiteracy in society.
