Despite Government efforts in providing various Primary Health Care Centers and model Dispensaries across Bauchi State, shortage of man-power to manned such health facilities has continue to be a source of worries to benefiting communities.
Most of this facilities were executed by the Bauchi State Government through the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) intervention under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bauchi State.
Interviewing some of the benefitting communities on such projects at Dunkurmi village in Misau LGA and Gwaltukurwa village in Dass LGA hold the view that without trained health personnel to run those facilities, the purpose for executing the projects could have been defeated in its entity.
The benefitting communities of these projects in various LGAs of the state therefore urged the Government to ensure that suitable health personnel are deployed to run the centres so as to make health services provision accessible to the rural communities.
Some of the community members interviewed at Gwaltukurwa were the village Imam, Mallam Musa and one Malama Amina however commended the state Government for the provision of social amenities which, they said, would go a long way in boosting their spirits.
Our correspondent gathered that the project were executed within one year of Governor Bala Mohammed stewardship,
Conducted round at the Gwaltukurwa facility by a director in the SDGs Office Bauchi, Mukhtar Mohammed Musa who disclosed that his office during the year constructed new facilities, renovated and upgraded others at a total cost of N500 million.
Mr. Mukhtar Musa explained that the projects included six primary health centres, two model dispensaries with solar-powered boreholes that feeds the communities with water, with medical equipment, consumables and other materials supplied to the health facilities.
At Liman Katagum Primary Healthcare Centre, Director of Press, Government House Bauchi Alhaji Suleiman Dambam formerly PRO with the State PHCDA said that 101 PHCs across the State are being renovated and upgraded by UNICEF under the European Union and State Government Collaborative intervention.
On Yelwan Duguri – Burga 60km road under construction, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr. Stephen Abubakar who said that road contract awarded at a cost of N8.8 billion has reached 40% completion.
Engr. Abubakar explained that construction work on the road has reached 22.7km with two of the six bridges already completed while the third is taking off, and the project being handled by Triacta Nig. Ltd.
The permanent Secretary said, “This is a typical example of how a road is being constructed on a bar gin terrain. It involves clearing, aligning, and surveying, filling, and forming the road”.
The delegation is at the leadership of the State Commissioner of information and communication, Alhaji Garba Dahiru who described the infrastructural facilities inspected as of high standard and the road work of high quality.-
