INEC Cancels 23 polling Units’ Results As Violence Mars Election In Cross River

The collation officer for Abi LG, Prof. Simon Odey Ering, announced this while presenting the result for the governorship election in the LG.
 

The governorship election in Abi local government area of Cross River State was cancelled in 23 polling units as well as other polling units in the state, following violence and snatching of electoral materials.

The collation officer for Abi LG, Prof. Simon Odey Ering, announced this while presenting the result for the governorship election in the LG.

According to him, “16,170 registered voters could not vote because of ballot box and ballot paper snatching and other violence in 23 polling units.”

“Some of the affected polling units are in Imabana, Ekureku, Itigidi, Ediba, Ebom and Igoligoli.”

In Odukpani local government area also, election was cancelled in 11 polling units owing to violence.

The returning officer for the local government area, Mr. Ashiru Emmanuel, disclosed this while presenting the result for the local government area.

Election was also cancelled in 16 polling units in Yakurr local government area due to violence, according to the collation officer, Dr. David Imbua.
