The Federal Government has sent 110 trucks of palliative foodstuff to Kano State, according to information revealed by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

The Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, made this known on Wednesday.

A statement by her spokesman, Salisu Dambatta, disclosed that 10 trucks of parboiled rice had been delivered to Kano.

It added that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is currently moving 100 trucks of grains to five locations in the state.

The consignment comprising millet, sorghum and maize, were released from silos containing the country’s strategic food reserve.

Farouq said: “One of the humanitarian interventions provided by the Federal Government is the delivery of food items as palliatives to the poor and vulnerable in all states affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to ease the lockdown situation.

“The Ministry will continue to work closely with all the agencies under its purview, including NEMA, in discharging its mandates, including providing effective coordination of humanitarian interventions”.

Also on Wednesday, Buhari spoke on the recent deaths in Kano State.
