Farmer Pounces Wife To Death In Ondo

An old-aged farmer in Ondo State reportedly took to his heels after he allegedly beat to death his wife following an argument that ensued between them.

According to the report which has been confirmed by the Ondo State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Tee-Leo Ikoro, the suspect, Eric Olowokande, 71, has been arrested on Easter Monday following reports that he engaged his wife with punches until she finally seized to breathe.

The 71-year-old suspect had carried out the alleged offence during an argument with his wife, Mojere, at Idanre town in the Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According details from an anonymous source, Olowokande had ran into the bush to avoid been arrested by security men but unlucky for him, he was later arrested by a team of policemen.

“There was a hot argument between the man (suspect) and his wife and the argument led to fisticuffs. The man started punching the wife until she fell down and became unconscious,” said the source.

He added, “Immediately after that, she was rushed to the hospital but it was at the hospital that the doctor confirmed her dead. The remains of the deceased had been deposited at the General Hospital in Idanre.”

On his part, the Ondo State PRO said; “The suspect is already in our custody and we have begun an investigation into the matter; after the completion of the investigation, he would be charged to court.”
