UNIZIK Suspends Chinese Course And Lecturers Due To Fear Of Coronavirus

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Anambra State, has suspended Chinese course and lecturers in the institution due to fear of the deadly coronavirus.

This was made know by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Charles Esomone, during a pre-convocation press conference on Monday, March 9, 2020.

According to Punch, Esonome said the University had asked its Chinese lecturers, who travelled for Christmas vacation, not to return to the institution.

Those who were around in the country, had also been barred from travelling to China.

The VC said the Chinese course under Confucius Institute of the University would now be run online.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has announced another confirmed coronavirus patient in the country.

Ehanire said the new coronavirus patient was among those kept in isolation after interacting with the Italian man who brought the deadly disease to Nigeria.
