The Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Akin Dare, had a positive first experience watching the Super Falcons since his appointment, when the nine times African champions defeated Algerian female team 1-0 in an Olympics qualifying match in Lagos.
Dare arrived the Agege Stadium, Lagos, in company of the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, into the waiting hands of the Acting President of Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, who received them at the airport.
National Daily gathered that the Falcons secured a 1-0 victory through a 57th minute strike of a solo run by Captain Asisat Oshoala. The Algerians were eliminated on 3-0 aggregate while the Falcons progressed to the second round of African qualifier for the Tokyo 2020. The Nigerian team will be playing Cote d’Ivoire in the next qualifying match.
