FG shuts down Enugu International Airport

The federal government on Saturday shut down the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Enugu State. All domestic flights    have been diverted to Owerri Cargo Airport. The Federal Aviation Authorities of Nigeria (FAAN) shut down the airport for repairs of its runway and upgrade of its facility.

It was learned that Ethiopia Airline are the only fights expected to use the Enugu airport before it was shutdown.

The report indicated that international airlines to Enugu will be diverted to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from Monday, while domestic flights to Enugu have been directed to the Owerri cargo airport from Saturday.

It was recalled that the federal government through FAAN had issued a shutdown notice on the Airport effect from this weekend for repairs and upgrade of the airport to international standard.
