
An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday remanded an unemployed man, Sunday Ademola, in prison custody for allegedly threatening two pedestrians with a machete and robbing them of two phones worth N410,000.
Magistrate B. I. Bakare, who did not take Ademola’s plea, made the order following an application by the police.
He remanded the defendant in prison custody for 30 days pursuant to Section 264(1) (2) of the Administrative of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.
Bakare also ordered the police to duplicate the case file and send a copy to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Ademola, 27, was arraigned by the police on a three-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
Prosecuting Sergeant Friday Mameh said the defendant allegedly committed the offences at about 11pm, on August 23, at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Plc, Igbo Efon in Eti-Osa area of Lagos.
The court heard that Ademola conspired with others still at large and robbed Mr Ojivwe Bighero, of his Samsung phone worth N100, 000 at machete-point.
“The defendant, wielding a machete, also robbed another pedestrian, one Mr Sunday Ademola, of his S9 Samsung phone worth N310,000,” Mameh added.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 297(1) and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
