Last Friday was a hot day for new music. As well as double releases from both Odunsi (The Engine) and Jidenna, came bodies of work from Lady Donli, Nonso Amadi and Bils, who put out a noteworthy EP, Mans on the Move

Mans on the Move opens with an arresting saxophone, which is then accompanied by Sayrachips’ melodic repetition of the song’s title, “Spiritual”. Both rapping and singing on the track, “Spiritual” is a brilliant indication of the solid music Bils delivers over the rest of the tape.

Producing all the tracks besides the project opener, Bils also takes 6 out of the 7 tracks solo, enlisting BOJ as his only feature on track no.2, “D.W.M.T”. Of course, BOJ dishes out a phenomenal assist, standing out as one of the most memorable verses on the EP.

Each song on the project offers up a different vibe. While “Spiritual” is an afrobeat-inspired number, “Tangerine” offers a more mellow pace. “Desperate Ways” is a little aggressive, and the album closer, “Bad Boy”, which just got a music video, sees Bils experimenting with a dance beat.

“Bad Boy” is an energetic track upon which Bils professes his self-proclaimed bad boy status. Warning us that he is not one to mess with, Bils let us into his blunt nature, exclaiming that he says whatever he likes.

The video for “Bad Boy”, directed by 1ofmyguys, shows Bils and his crew owning the streets, whilst dancers tear it up to his new jam. “Bad Boy”, the last track on the EP, is preceded by a bunch of good songs, and we hope to see videos for them as well.
