In the past year, D’Banj has been on a mission to regain relevance in the Nigerian music scene, collaborating with the likes of Tiwa Savage (“Shake It”) and 2Baba (“Baecation”). For his latest effort, he’s gone solo on “Shy”, a single off his upcoming LP.
Considering the fact that D’Banj is responsible for a lot of the most iconic songs we got in the noughties, it’s a bit disappointing that none of his recent singles have reached those heights, and the forgettable “Shy” is, unfortunately, no exception.
On the song, D’Banj sings about being a shy guy, especially when he’s around the ladies. However, anyone who’s been following his career knows that this is absolutely not the case, and his tongue-in-cheek accompanying video definitely confirms that.
The video, which was directed by TG Omori, sees him reiterating that he’s a shy guy, proclaiming all the things he can’t do because of this. That doesn’t last too long, as he quickly loosens up around the stunning women that fill up the clip.
