From cinema (John Boyega, Chiwetel Ejiofor) to literature (Tomi Adeyemi, Nnedi Okorafor), everywhere you look there’s a creative of Nigerian descent shaking things up internationally. The same goes for music, as a ton of our artists in the diaspora have been killing the game lately.
Last year, we presented a list of our favourite songs by artists of Nigerian descent, and after another solid year — thanks to new projects and killer singles by some of the most talented British-Nigerians and Nigerian-Americans working today — we think it’s about time that list got expanded.
While a lot of the artists from our original list appear here again — including Tyler, the Creator, Sade, Wale and MNEK — this new collection of songs show great artistic growth on all their parts, as well as celebrates some newcomers, particularly Dave and DYO, who are showing immense promise.
