The Federal Government has made a swift adjustment and announced an additional public holiday on for Nigerians following a new disclosure.

The Federal Government in addition to the two days announced earlier, has declared Thursday, April 11, 2024, as another public holiday to observe Eid-el-Fitr.

In a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, shared on the ministry’s official platform on Tuesday, it was stated, “The Federal Government has approved Thursday, April 11, 2024, as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.”

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, conveyed congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the month of Ramadan, emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to ensuring a secure and prosperous Nigeria.

Saudi Arabia declared on Monday that the crescent of Shawwal had not been sighted, indicating the continuation of fasting on Tuesday. Eid-el-Fitr would subsequently be observed on Wednesday, April 10, marking the commencement of the new Islamic month.

Earlier, the Federal Government had declared Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
