The Advertising Standards Panel (ASP), a statutory organ of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), has announced a crucial stakeholders’ forum aimed at promoting responsible advertising practices within the Nigerian advertising landscape.

Scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2024, the event will be held at the Shiba Event Centre, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

Under the theme “The Motive of Responsible Advertising in Nigeria,” the forum promises to be a comprehensive discourse on the laws, ethics, and guidelines that govern the advertising industry in the country.

Stakeholders, including advertising agencies, marketers, media houses, regulatory bodies and industry associations are expected to converge for this event.

Announcing the forum, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of ARCON revealed that it is a golden opportunity for all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue, share insights, and collectively reinforce ARCON’s commitment to ethical and responsible advertising practices.

The forum is expected to look into the intricacies of the Nigerian Code of Advertising, vetting guidelines, and the consequences of non-compliance and violation of advertising regulations. It is also expected that participants will gain valuable insights from industry experts, legal professionals, and the regulatory organ, to navigate the complex landscape of advertising in Nigeria effectively.

According to ARCON, admission to the forum is free. It encourages widespread participation from all relevant stakeholders. Interested parties are urged to mark their calendars and seize this opportunity to engage in shaping the future of responsible advertising in Nigeria.

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), formerly called the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, is a regulatory body established by the Nigerian Government in 2022.

It was formed to regulate and control advertising in Nigeria, replacing the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria Act (APCON) with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act, 2022.

ARCON’s primary responsibilities include regulating and controlling advertising in Nigeria, safeguarding the interests of the public and consumers, promoting local content, and implementing global best practices.
