Tragedy As Nwabali Loses Mother

Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has suffered another tragedy following the death of his mother.

Nwabali shared the news of his mother’s death on his X handle on Wednesday evening.

“Rip mom, worst year of my life already,” he wrote.

Before announcing the death of his mom, Nwabali had posted: “A very very crazy world indeed.”

The goalkeeper, did not, however, give details of the cause of his mom’s death.

Just over a month ago Nwabali’s father passed away a few hours before the Super Eagles match against Rwanda in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification game in mid-November.

He was excused from the game which the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to Rwanda.

Following his impressive performance for Nigeria at the 2023 AFCON Nwabali was nominated for CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award which was won by South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.
