The Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight members of two syndicates wanted for robberies and vehicle snatchings at gunpoint in Lagos State.
In a statement released by Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police, it was reported that some of the suspects were captured in Lagos.
He further stated that detectives pursued the remaining suspects to Iwo, Osun State, and Ibadan, Oyo State, where they were arrested
The suspects were identified as Dayo Afolabi (27), Segun Osoyemi (32), Toheeb Adetunji (29), Tomiwa Okunlola (30), Bashiru Lukmon (22), Usman Hammed (25), Ashiru Usman (24), and Toheeb Oyekunle (32)
He added that the suspects were responsible for the murder of a police officer and the theft of his rifle in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State on December 9, 2023.
The rifle has since been recovered during the first set of arrests.
Other items recovered from the suspects include: one pump-action rifle, five locally-made pistols, thirty live cartridges, and charms.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, praised the detectives for their commendable work and assured Lagosians that the Command would persist in taking all necessary operational measures to guarantee their safety.
