Police alert on cyber crime with NIN, provide cyber security tips

The Nigeria Police Force has alerted citizens of cyber criminals using people’s NIN to register telephone numbers for cybercrime activities.
The police, therefore, provided tips to secure people’s identity from being linked to crime

The National Cubercrime Center of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF-NCCC), therefore, provided Cyber Security Tips.

According to the NPF-NCCC, steps to secure your identity from being linked to crime include the following:

* Step 1: Dial *996#. this is applicable to all networks

* Step 2: MTN and GLO users, press 2 (View numbers linked to NIN and 9Mobile users, press 4 (View linked numbers); AIRTEL users, press 3 (View linked numbers)

* Step 3: An sms will be sent with all numbers linked to your NIN.

* Any phone number, linked to your NIN that you do not recognize should be blocked or deleted; visit the office of your network provider for deactivation.

* report to the Nigeria Police National Cybercrime center.

The police further provided telephone numbers and email for reports.
