This morning, a fire outbreak ravaged the popular Damaturu GSM market, causing the destruction of property worth millions of Naira.
As of the time of compiling this report, the cause of the fire outbreak has not yet been determined, and firefighters had to spend hours before gaining control over the fire.
Chairman of the GMS market, Malami Ali said, “Our members have lost over N150 million worth of property to the inferno”.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Yobe State Command, has officially confirmed the incident to newsmen in Damaturu.
“Over 30 shops were completely burnt, no life was lost nor injury sustained. Cause of the fire is yet unknown”, he said.
Kanyi Daily recalls that no less than 10 shops and a residential building were consumed in a fire incident near the Afor Nkpor Market, along Oraukwu Crescent/Nkpor Old Road, within the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
