The former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo SAN, has decried the misinterpretation of his tweet on the appointment of service chiefs by President Bola Tinubu.
The former minster noted that he was quoted out of contest when his tweet on the suit he instituted against the YarÁdua administration and won in the Jonathan administration on the appointment of the service chiefs by the President which must be confirmed by the National Assembly was being reported that he has taken President Tinubu to court.
Keyamo noted that he rather commended the federal government for complying with the court judgement.

“Some mischief makers are circulating a fake news on Social Media that I have dragged the Tinubu-led Federal Government to court over the appointment of Service Chiefs without the approval of the National Assembly. This is such a dumb misrepresentation of what I tweeted a few days ago.
“My tweet was rather to praise and commend the Federal Government for complying with the judgment in the case I instituted during the Yar’Adua administration and won during the Goodluck Jonathan administration to the effect that Service Chiefs’ appointment must also get the approval of the National Assembly. I noted the compliance with that judgment when the Press Release was made last week on the appointments.
“It was the Yar’Adua administration I took to court after I wrote several letters to the Attorney-General at that time and the National Assembly, drawing their attention to the anomaly and I was ignored. I hope the mischief makers can now rest on this issue.”
In the earlier tweet, Keyamo had written: Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIArb (UK)

“Every single person picked so far by @officialABAT are round pegs in round holes!

“I am also pleased to see continuous compliance by the FG with the decision of the court in the case of KEYAMO V PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA & another wherein I challenged the powers of Mr. President to appoint Service Chiefs without the approval of the National Assembly and won. Since the days of President Goodluck Jonathan that is the procedure the FG has adopted in appointing Service Chiefs. I note that the Press Release yesterday indicated the Service Chiefs need the approval of the National Assembly for their appointments to be confirmed.
“When you try to push the bounds of the law to change the system, you’re bound to win some, lose some and continue to pursue some. But the struggle must continue”.
